Volunteering
At Cleveland Early College High School, students are encouraged to participate in volunteer activities as part of their commitment to one of our EL Design Principles: "Service and Compassion." This principle fosters a sense of responsibility and empathy, encouraging students to give back to their communities and make a positive impact. Students are encouraged to document and complete service hours throughout their high school journey.
To honor this dedication, CECHS students who complete 200 verified service hours will be recognized at graduation. This recognition highlights the value CECHS places on service, and students take pride in achieving this milestone.
Beyond school recognition, volunteer hours play a vital role in shaping students’ future academic and career opportunities. Colleges and universities view community service as an indicator of a student's commitment to leadership, character, and personal growth. Engaging in volunteer work showcases time management, initiative, and a genuine desire to improve the world around them—all of which strengthen college applications. Moreover, service experiences can provide students with compelling stories and insights for essays and interviews, further distinguishing them in the competitive college admissions process.
Volunteering is not just about completing hours—it’s about developing lifelong skills in collaboration, empathy, and problem-solving, preparing students to thrive in college and beyond.
Submit any completed hours or check your number of hours on record. Hours are only counted once the contact or organization has verified your submission hours.
Hours must be submitted no later than 6 months from the service date to be counted.
